GSD Co-Founder Derek Delivers Powerful Talk

2020 has been an eventful year for GSD. I have traveled the world to meet with talented tech and AI startups that are determined to #GoGlobal. Recently I was invited to speak to the Presidential Program in Voronezh, Russia about Digital Transformation and Agile Teams. I also paid a visit to various tech companies such as RMCSoft, Comprehensive Automation, and Angels IT.

I was warmly welcomed by the startup community in Voronezh, where I delivered a talk on how to build a strategy in the face of uncertainty, how digital transformation has shifted the vector of invested projects, what agile teams are, as well as their advantages and how to manage teams remotely.

It was a pleasure to meet with the startup community in Voronehz and deliver an impactful talk on leading through this period of uncertainty - Derek Distenfield

In the second half of my trip, I met with key government officials in Voronezh. One such leader was Roman Golovanev. Roman is the Director of My Business Center, which is part of a national project for “Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and the Support of Individual Entrepreneurship Initiatives”

The center provides over 200 services including consultations on the measures of state support for small and medium-sized enterprises, the opening of sole proprietorships and LLCs, on training in a wide range of educational programs, consultations in the field of labor and tax legislation.

Roman and I sat down to discuss expansion for Russian startups in the US and GSD’s new 10 week virtual Accelerator called GSD Labs with a mission of helping international technology startups enter the US. We also discussed the exciting opportunity of a partnership between My Business Center and GSD. Throughout the visit, I also sat down with entrepreneurs to provide mentorship and guidance as they launch and grow their businesses.

“We are thrilled to be furthering GSD’s mission in helping Russian Talent expand into the US” - Gary Fowler

Of course, it wasn’t all business! I spent some time touring the beautiful city of Voronezh seeing sights such as bridges, castles, and enjoying a delicious ribeye steak, which is what the area is known for.
