GSD Labs Company Scanbo is on a mission to Reimagine Pathology Labs in Kenya With Partnership

GSD Labs portfolio company Scanbo, has announced a major partnership with RUPHA to expand their cutting-edge AI medical device and point of care platform to the rural market of Kenya.

Scanbo is a revolutionary, non-invasive, portable, handheld device designed to perform a rapid health assessment by recording patients’ key vitals. Scanbo’s point of care platform and medical device optimizes health data with machine learning. The technology operates by analyzing blood and ECG testing. It then collects medical history, daily activities, and metagenomic data to predict future health complications.

Rural Private Hospitals Association of Kenya (RUPHA) is a first-of-its-kind association. It is a non-political society comprising privately-owned medical, outpatient, ambulatory care, rehabilitation, diagnostic centers, and nursing homes and hospitals covering 47 counties in Kenya.

"I couldn’t be prouder of Scanbo's growth in a short time. I have no doubt their technology will bring viable solutions to the long-term healthcare challenges in Kenya." - Derek Distenfield, COO of GSD Venture Studios

Scanbo works with local and regional distributors and partners who will collaborate with RUPHA on a go-to-market strategy. Because Kenya is still considered a developing nation, they face many challenges such as available and affordable healthcare. Scanbo will tap into RUPHA’s existing 80% market of rural Kenya, which will provide digital records and medical devices to patients, improving care quality and availability.

In addition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, remote patient care is a priority. Scanbo’s portable handheld device provides a solution for an already struggling healthcare system. Future goals include expanding into the larger markets of East and South Africa.

“We are thrilled to partner with RUPHA bringing our revolutionary medical device to patient care in Kenya.” - Ashish Raichura, CEO & Founder of Scanbo
